Advanced Post Carousel

Advanced Post Carousel turns a WordPress query into a sliding row of post cards. Its one job is a post carousel, with a Marquee layout for a continuous scroll.

How to add the Advanced Post Carousel module

  1. Open the Visual Builder and add a section and row.
  2. Search for "Advanced Post Carousel" and add the module.
  3. In the Query group, choose what to show. In the Carousel group, choose the layout and slide options.

Content

Query group

  • Post Type: Post (default) or Page.
  • Total Posts: Default 9.
  • Offset: Default 0.
  • Order: Descending (default) or Ascending.
  • Order By: Date (default), Title, Random, Comment Count or Menu Order.
  • Ignore Sticky Posts: On by default.
  • Exclude Current Post: Off by default.
  • Include By: None (default), Post Parent or Author. Narrows the query to one author's posts or the children of one post.
  • Author: The author to include. Used when Include By is Author.
  • Parent Post ID: The parent post. Used when Include By is Post Parent.
  • Filter by Category and Category Rule: Choose categories, then Include selected (default) or Exclude selected.
  • Filter by Tag and Tag Rule: Choose tags, then Include selected (default) or Exclude selected.
  • Layout: Carousel (default) or Marquee.
  • Slides Per Page: Default 3.
  • Slides Per Move: Default 1.
  • Gap: Default 20px.
  • Type: Loop (default), Slide or Fade.
  • Transition Speed: Default 1000.
  • Autoplay: On by default.
  • Autoplay Interval: Default 2000.
  • Pause On Hover: On by default.
  • Arrows: On by default.
  • Trim Space: Off by default. Removes the empty space at the ends of a non-looping carousel.
  • Pagination: On by default.
  • Focus: Center (default), Start or End.

Marquee settings apply when Layout is Marquee.

  • Marquee Speed: Default 50.
  • Marquee Direction: Left (default) or Right.
  • Custom Post Box Width: On by default.
  • Post Box Width: Default 300px.
  • Marquee Pause On Hover: Off by default.
  • Marquee Loop: Default 0.
  • Marquee Gradient: Off by default. Fades the edges of the marquee.
  • Gradient Width: Default 50.
  • Gradient Color: Default #ffffff.

Elements group

  • Card Layout: Classic (default) or Modern.
  • Image Position: Top (default), Background or None.
  • Image Size: Thumbnail, Medium, Medium Large (default), Large or Full.
  • Link Image: Off by default. Open Image Link in New Tab: Off by default.
  • Fixed Image Ratio: Off by default. Ratio: Default 1.
  • Show Title: On by default. Link Title: On by default. Open Title Link in New Tab: Off by default.
  • Show Meta: On by default, with Show Post Author (off), Show Author Avatar (off), Show Date (on), Show Comments (on), Show Categories (off), Show Tags (off) and Show Meta Separator (on).
  • Show Excerpt: On by default. Excerpt Length: Default 20.
  • Show Read More: On by default. Read More Text: Default "Read More". Open Read More in New Tab: Off by default.
  • Show Read More Icon: Off by default. Read More Icon and Icon Position (Before or After, default After).
  • Taxonomy Position: Above Content (default), On Image or None.
  • Select Taxonomy: Category (default) or Tag.
  • Display Max Terms: Default 1.
  • Border and Box Shadow: Standard options for the cards.

Design

  • Image group: Background Color (default rgba(0,0,0,0.1)) and Padding.
  • Content group: Content Background, Content Padding (default 30px on all sides) and Border.
  • Title group: Font settings for the post title.
  • Content group (excerpt): Font settings for the excerpt.
  • Meta group: Font settings for the meta line.
  • Taxonomy group: Background Color (rgba(0,0,0,0.1)), Padding (4px 7px), Top Spacing (10px) and Border.
  • Button group: Top Spacing (default 30px) and Divi's standard button settings for the Read More button.
  • Carousel group: Arrows Size (1.2em), Arrows Background Color, Arrows Color, Pagination Color, Active Pagination Color, Pagination Size (10) and Pagination Gap (5).

FAQ

Does Advanced Post Carousel work in Divi 4 and Divi 5?

The plugin includes a Divi 4 version and a native Divi 5 module with the same name. Divi 4 layouts convert to the Divi 5 module. This page describes the Divi 5 settings.

Which scripts does it use?

The Carousel layout uses Splide. The Marquee layout uses a marquee script. Both are enqueued when the module renders.

Can I show custom post types?

The Post Type setting offers Post and Page only.
