SMTP Mailer

The SMTP Mailer extension sends WordPress email through your own SMTP provider, so messages come from your domain and reach inboxes. Set it up in a few fields and send a test email.

The SMTP Mailer extension sends the email your WordPress site produces, such as contact form messages and password resets, through your own SMTP provider instead of the web server's default mailer. This helps messages arrive from your domain and reach inboxes.

Open the settings

Go to Divi Torque > Site SMTP. You can also switch the extension on or off from Divi Torque > Extensions.

Sender

  • From name: The name recipients see.
  • From email: The address all outgoing messages come from. Use an address on your own domain so it can pass your domain's SPF and DKIM checks. It does not need to match any WordPress user account.

These two settings apply to all email WordPress sends.

SMTP server

  • Host: The SMTP server address from your provider.
  • Port: The port your provider lists for SMTP.
  • Encryption: None, SSL, or TLS. Choose the option your provider lists for the port you entered.
  • Authentication: Switch this on when your provider requires a login. Username and Password appear when it is on.
  • Username: The username your provider issued. This is often your full email address, or an API token name for some providers.
  • Password: The password or API key your provider issued for this username. It is never your WordPress password. After you save, the field shows a masked value. Leave it as it is to keep the saved password, or type a new one to replace it.

Turn the mailer on or off

The SMTP mailer switch under General controls whether WordPress sends mail through your SMTP server. When it is off, WordPress sends mail the default way. The extension starts switched on, with a placeholder host, so enter your provider's details before you rely on it.

Send a test email

  1. Save your settings. The test uses the saved settings, so the button stays disabled while you have unsaved changes.
  2. Click Send test email at the top of the screen.
  3. Enter a recipient address and click Send test.

If the test fails, check the host, port, encryption, username, and password against your provider's instructions.
