Mega Menu

The Mega Menu extension turns a plain Divi dropdown into a full-width panel that can hold any Divi module — images, blurbs, pricing tables, buttons, forms. You design the panel once as a saved Divi Library layout, then attach it to a menu item. It is a Divi Torque Pro feature and needs no code.

Because the panel is a Divi Library layout rather than a custom widget area, everything you already know about the Divi Builder applies to it: rows, columns, global modules, and responsive settings all work exactly as they do on a normal page.

How to enable Mega Menu

  1. Build the dropdown content in the Divi Builder and save it to the Divi Library.
  2. Go to Appearance → Menus and expand the menu item that should open the mega panel.
  3. Choose your layout under Mega menu Layout, pick a Mega menu Toggle, and save the menu.

Content

Mega Menu is not a builder module, so it has no settings panel of its own. Instead it adds two fields to every menu item in Appearance → Menus.

A dropdown listing every layout saved in your Divi Library. Pick one and it becomes the content of that menu item's mega panel. Leave it on Select layout and the item behaves as a normal menu item with a standard dropdown.

How the panel opens:

  • Hover — opens as the pointer moves over the item. Fastest for mouse users.
  • Click — opens only on click. The better choice for accessibility and for touch devices, where hover does not exist.
  • Both — responds to hover and to click.

Design

There are no separate design options for the panel, and that is the point — the design lives in the Divi Library layout itself. Background colour, padding, columns, borders, shadows, and animations are all set on the section and rows inside that layout, using the normal Divi Builder controls.

Two behaviours are handled for you:

  • Full-width panel — the mega panel stretches edge to edge across the viewport, regardless of how narrow the menu item is.
  • Mobile — on small screens the panel collapses into Divi's own mobile menu and expands in place, rather than trying to render a full-width overlay on a phone.

How to build a three-column mega menu

  1. Create a new layout in Divi → Divi Library and add a section with a three-column row.
  2. Set the section padding to zero top and bottom — a Divi section's default padding is sized for a page, and it makes a dropdown look enormous.
  3. Fill each column: a heading plus a list of links, or a Blurb module per item if you want icons.
  4. Give the section a solid background colour so the panel is readable over page content.
  5. Save it, then assign it to a menu item under Appearance → Menus.

Tip

Build one mega panel layout and reuse it across several menu items rather than duplicating it. Because it is a Divi Library layout, editing it once updates every menu item that points at it — which is what makes a large navigation maintainable six months later.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Divi Torque Pro for a Divi mega menu?

Yes. Mega Menu is a Divi Torque Pro extension and is not part of the free Divi Torque Lite plugin. Divi itself has no built-in mega menu.

Can I put any Divi module inside a mega menu?

Yes. The panel renders a Divi Library layout, so anything you can build on a page works inside it — including modules from Divi Torque and other third-party plugins.

Does it work with a Divi Theme Builder header?

Yes. Mega Menu enhances Divi's navigation, so it works with the Divi theme header, with a Divi Menu module inside a Theme Builder header template, and with the Menu Maker module. It needs a Divi menu present on the page — it will not attach itself to a menu rendered by an unrelated theme.

Should I use hover or click?

Click is the safer default. Hover menus are hard to use on touch screens and for anyone navigating by keyboard, and a large panel that appears on an accidental mouse-over is a common source of complaints. Use hover only on navigation aimed squarely at desktop users.

My mega menu is not opening — what should I check?

Confirm three things: the menu item has a layout assigned under Mega menu Layout, a Mega menu Toggle is selected (the field is empty by default), and the page is actually rendering a Divi menu. A page with no Divi menu on it has nothing for the extension to attach to.
