Post Carousel

The Post Carousel module slides your posts through a responsive carousel. Pick one of six card styles, choose which posts appear with the query panel, and switch each card element on or off. The module is built natively for Divi 5.

How to add the Post Carousel module

Open a page with the Divi 5 builder and add a section and a row.
Click the + icon, search for Post Carousel, and insert it.
Pick a Card Style, then narrow the posts under Content > Query.

Content

Query

The Query group decides which posts appear in the carousel. Only published items are shown.

Post Type: Post or Page.
Included Categories: category IDs or slugs, separated by commas.
Custom Taxonomy and Taxonomy Terms: filter by any registered taxonomy. Enter the taxonomy name, then the term IDs or slugs.
Order By: Date, Title, ID, Author or Random.
Sort Order: Descending or Ascending. Default is Descending.
Post Limit: how many posts to pull. Default is 6.
Post Offset: how many posts to skip first. A second carousel can use it to continue where the first one ended.
Include Post IDs and Exclude Post IDs: force specific posts in or out.
Date Format: how the post date is printed. Default is "M d, Y".

Layout Settings

Card Style sets the card layout. There are six styles:

Classic: the image on top, with the text below. This is the default.
Editorial: the title comes first, followed by the author and date.
Overlay: the text sits over the featured image on a dark background.
Profile: a floating author avatar on the image. This style has no Read More button.
Spotlight: a rounded card that lifts slightly on hover.
Horizontal: the image beside the text instead of above it.

Each element on the card has its own toggle:

Show Image, with Image Size (Thumbnail, Medium, Large or Full).
Show Title, with Title Heading Level (H1 to H6). Default is H4.
Show Excerpt, with Excerpt Length. Default is 150.
Show Categories and Show Single Category.
Show Author and Show Avatar.
Show Date.
Show Read More, with Button Text. Default is "Read More".

Slides, Autoplay & Motion, Interaction, and Arrows & Dots

The carousel settings are in four Content groups. They are the same carousel settings as the Image Carousel.

Slides: Slides to Show, Slides to Scroll, Gap Between Slides, Variable Slide Width, Slide Width and Vertical Direction. Slides to Show and Slides to Scroll are responsive. Slides to Show defaults to 3.
Autoplay & Motion: Autoplay, Autoplay Delay, Transition Speed, Transition Easing and Infinite Loop.
Interaction: Drag / Swipe, Center Active Slide, Center Mode Style, Center Peek, Custom Cursor and Cursor Style.
Arrows & Dots: Show Arrows, Show Dots, Arrow Layout, Pagination Style (Dots or Numbers), and the Previous and Next Arrow Icon.

Design

Thumbnail Style: Image Fit (Actual Size, Contain or Cover), Image Height, Image Width, Image Hover (None, Zoom In, Zoom Out or Fade), and When No Featured Image. That last setting shows a placeholder icon, a custom image (set in Fallback Image URL), or nothing. Placeholder Background sets the placeholder color.
Content Box: text Alignment.
Post Title and Post Excerpt: color, font size, and top and bottom spacing.
Category: Position (any of the four image corners), Offset, Background Color, Text Color and Font Size.
Author and Date: text color and font size.
Readmore: Top Spacing, Text Color, Background Color, Font Size, Vertical and Horizontal Padding, Border Radius, and hover text and background colors.
Arrow Style, Arrow Border and Arrow Position: style and place the previous and next arrows.
Dot Style, Number Style and Dot Position: style the pagination dots or numbers.
Carousel Spacing: space above and below the carousel.

Tip

Set When No Featured Image before the carousel goes live. Older posts often have no thumbnail, and the default placeholder can look broken next to posts that have one. A fallback image keeps the row consistent.

Frequently asked questions

Can I show posts from a custom post type?

Post Type offers Post and Page. To narrow by a custom taxonomy, including one registered by another plugin, use Custom Taxonomy and Taxonomy Terms in the Query group.

How do I show only one category?

Enter the category under Included Categories in the Query group. To show just one category label on each card instead of every category the post belongs to, turn on Show Single Category.

Does the Post Carousel work in Divi 4?

No. The Post Carousel is built for Divi 5 and does not appear in the Divi 4 builder. In Divi 4, use the Post List module.
