How to Get Instagram Access Token?

The Instagram Feed module for Divi Builder is the perfect solution for showcasing your Instagram feed within the Divi theme. It provides several features, including responsiveness, custom profile picture display, custom bio, follow button integration, support for captions, and a convenient load-more button. This module effectively displays Instagram photos uploaded by the authenticated user.

Setting Up the Instagram Feed Module

To use the Instagram Feed module, you need an access token. This token allows secure access to your Instagram account data. Follow this guide to generate the access token using the Instagram API with Instagram Login.

Prerequisites

Before you can generate an access token, you must connect your app to a Business account that has completed Business Verification. Follow Meta’s Business Verification guide for instructions.

Step 1: Ensure You Have an Instagram Creator or Business Account

Before proceeding, make sure your Instagram account is either a Creator or Business account.

  1. Log in to your Instagram account.
  2. Convert your account by following these instructions:

Step 2: Set Up an Application

You need to set up an application on the Meta for Developers platform by following these steps:

  1. Access your Meta for Developers platform. You can use an existing account or create a new one.
  2. Click Create App. A dialog will appear asking you to define your app’s functionalities.
  3. Select Other as the use case and click Next.
  4. Select Business as the app type to set the app permissions and click Next.
  5. Provide an App Name and Contact Email.
  6. Click Next to complete the setup.
  7. You will be redirected to your app dashboard where you can add products to your app.

Step 3: Add the Instagram Product to Your App

On the app dashboard:

  1. Scroll down to Products and locate Instagram.
  2. Click Set Up next to Instagram.
  3. Select API Setup with Instagram Login (NOT API Setup with Facebook Login).

Step 4: Generate Your Instagram Access Token

To retrieve an access token:

  1. Assign an Instagram account for token generation:
    • In the App Dashboard, go to Instagram > API Setup with Instagram Login.
    • Click Add an Instagram Account.
    • Log in with your Instagram Creator or Business account credentials.
  2. Confirm the account connection:
    • Your Instagram account must be public.
    • If you manage multiple accounts, ensure the correct one is selected.
  3. Copy the generated access token tied to the assigned Instagram account.

Step 5: Add the Access Token to Divi Torque

To finalize the setup:

  1. Navigate to Divi Torque Settings > Intregration > Instagram in your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Paste the Instagram Access Token into the Instagram Access Token input field.
  3. Save your changes.
