How to Get Instagram Access Token?

The Instagram Feed module needs an access token before it can show your posts. A token gives the module read access to the Instagram account you choose. Follow this guide to generate one with the Instagram API with Instagram Login, then connect it to Divi Torque. See the Instagram Feed module.

Prerequisites

Before you can generate an access token, you must connect your app to a Business account that has completed Business Verification. Follow Meta's Business Verification guide for instructions.

Step 1: Make sure you have an Instagram Creator or Business account

Before you continue, make sure your Instagram account is either a Creator or Business account.

Log in to your Instagram account.
Convert your account by following these instructions:
- Set up a Creator Account
- Convert to a Business Account

Step 2: Set up an application

You need to set up an application on the Meta for Developers platform.

Open Meta for Developers. You can use an existing account or create a new one.
Click Create App. A dialog asks you to define your app's functionalities.
Select Other as the use case and click Next.
Select Business as the app type to set the app permissions and click Next.
Provide an App Name and Contact Email.
Click Next to complete the setup.
You are redirected to your app dashboard, where you can add products to your app.

Step 3: Add the Instagram product to your app

On the app dashboard:

Scroll down to Products and find Instagram.
Click Set Up next to Instagram.
Select API Setup with Instagram Login (NOT API Setup with Facebook Login).

Step 4: Generate your Instagram access token

To get an access token:

Assign an Instagram account for token generation:
- In the App Dashboard, go to Instagram > API Setup with Instagram Login.
- Click Add an Instagram Account.
- Log in with your Instagram Creator or Business account credentials.
Confirm the account connection:
- Your Instagram account must be public.
- If you manage multiple accounts, make sure the correct one is selected.
Copy the generated access token tied to the assigned Instagram account.

Step 5: Add the access token to Divi Torque

In your WordPress dashboard, go to Divi Torque > Settings > Integrations.
In the Instagram section, find the Connect an account field.
Paste the access token into the field and click Connect.

The account connects immediately, so there is no Save button for this field. Connected accounts are listed in the Instagram section, and each one has an Unlink button. Instagram Feed modules that use an unlinked account stop updating.
