Extensions

The Popup Maker extension builds popups in the Divi Builder and controls where they show, how they open, and how often visitors see them.

The Popup Maker extension lets you build popups with the Divi Builder and control where they show, how they open, and how often visitors see them. Use it for offers, newsletter sign-ups, notices, and similar content.

Create a popup

  1. Go to Divi Torque > Popup Maker. This opens the popup list. If you do not see it, switch Popup Maker on under Divi Torque > Extensions.
  2. Click Add New and give the popup a title.
  3. Click Edit content with the Divi Builder and design the popup. Plain content written in the editor works too and gets a styled box automatically.
  4. Set the options in the Popup Settings box below the editor, then publish.

Administrators and editors can create and edit popups. Popups appear across the whole site, so they are limited to those two roles.

The Popup Settings box has four tabs.

Conditions

Conditions control where the popup appears. With no conditions, the popup shows across the whole site.

  • Click Add condition to add a rule.
  • Choose Show on to limit the popup to a target, or Hide on to carve out an exception.
  • Pick the target: Entire Site, a Singular target (All Singular, Front Page, Blog / Posts Page, or a specific post type, and more), or an Archives target (All Archives, Author Archive, Date Archive, Search Results, 404 Not Found, post type archives, and taxonomy archives).

Some targets need you to pick at least one specific item, such as a page or a category. A rule with none picked never matches, and the screen tells you so.

For example, a Show on rule with the Front Page target displays the popup only on your homepage. Make sure your rules do not conflict.

Triggers

Triggers control how the popup opens. Switch on one or more. The first trigger to fire opens the popup.

  • On page load: Opens after a delay in seconds. The default is 1.
  • On scroll: Opens after the visitor scrolls a percentage of the page, Down or Up. The default is 50 percent.
  • On scroll to element: Opens when an element matching your CSS selector scrolls into view, for example #pricing.
  • On click: Opens when the visitor clicks an element that matches your CSS selector, for example .open-popup. Add that class to any button or link.
  • On exit intent: Opens when the pointer leaves through the top of the window. It does not fire on touch screens.
  • On inactivity: Opens after a period with no mouse, scroll, or keyboard activity. The default is 15 seconds.

If every trigger is switched off, the popup does not open on its own. Use On click to open it from a button.

Display

Display controls how the popup looks and where it sits.

  • Position: Centered, Top left, Top right, Bottom left, Bottom right, Top bar, Bottom bar, or Fullscreen.
  • Animation: Fade, Slide, Zoom, or None.
  • Width: Set a width for Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile. Numbers are pixels, and you can also use values such as 90%. Width does not apply to bars or fullscreen.
  • Background overlay: Dims the page behind the popup. On by default.
  • Close button: Shows an X button to dismiss the popup. On by default.

Frequency

Frequency controls how often a visitor sees the popup. Both settings use cookies in the visitor's browser.

  • Show after X page views: Holds the popup back until the visitor has viewed the number of pages you set.
  • Show up to X times: Limits how many times a visitor sees the popup. Choose the period: Ever, Per day, Per week, or Per month.

Frequently asked questions

Where did the Popup Maker menu go?
The Popup Maker entry appears under Divi Torque only while the extension is switched on. Switch it on under Divi Torque > Extensions.

Why does my popup not open?
Check that it is published, that a Show on rule matches the page you are testing, and that at least one trigger is switched on. If you use a frequency limit, clear your cookies to test again.

Is Popup Maker part of Divi Torque Pro?
Yes. It is a Divi Torque Pro extension. See pricing.
